From fellow to member: Ilya Veer

Ilya Veer became an NSMD fellow back in 2022. In November 2024, he officially joined the consortium as a member of team Cognitive Control.

Ilya Veer studies recovery after stressful events and the contribution of sustained stress responses to affective psychopathology. In his research, he combines different techniques, including neuroimaging, psychophysiology, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and genetics. He is a principal investigator within the international consortia DynaMORE and ENIGMA and co-developer of software for harmonized fMRI analysis.

After obtaining his PhD at Leiden University, Ilya worked as a senior researcher at the department of psychiatry of Charité - Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, Germany. He joined the University of Amsterdam in 2021 as an assistant professor of developmental psychology, where he continues his research on stress recovery and resilience across the lifespan.
